Superb. I cannot get over the symbiosis these two musicians share. The cellist’s tone and the pianist’s touch and timing are extraordinary. An exceptionally moving performance. Thank you. ❤
Wow! Such beautiful expressive vibrato!
Gorgeous. Truly beautiful! And I just got done listening to Horowitz and Rostropovich play this, but damn could they have tuned the piano before the performance??
Sorry but it sounds like the cello is being tortured...complexity and dissonance are often mistaken for genius...Just listen to Finzi’s cello concerto and you will realize just how beautiful the cello can be
What an od comment! It IS torture! Torture of the soul!. You are very alone on that standpoint. Perhaps you should listen with the heart
You cant understand the music of Sibelius if you've never been to Finland.
Fantastic .....!
Well played Jan-Erik. I hope you're well. 👍
1:30 second movement of the violin concerto
Reminds me Rachmaninov
Piano part is absolutely genial
Beautifully played and gorgeous tone!
This is beautiful -
Really great playing!!!
1:30 i can hear the second mvt of sibelius violin concerto : ré do ..la si mi
It's a little puzzling as to why Sibelius did not compose a cello concerto considering this and, say, the opening of Pohjola's Daughter and the 4th symphony, and what seems to an instrument suited to his sometimes laconic moods.
depression and tragedy
Didn't know this piece - cool - insane piano part
6 dislikes too many! Wow. I know most Sibelius, but not this one.
Inspiring !!
This one has to replace my #1 version of this (my #1 version being Rostropovich and Horowitz). Both individually are superb, BRAVO!
Негодяи! Просто отвратительное исполнение!
Perfection! Even the recording sound balance is perfect. Your videos have introduced me to pieces in the rep I never knew of. Thanks again
Bravo!!!! Encore!!!!! Many thanks.
perhaps the reborn Lynn Harrell
Beautiful playing from both the cellist and pianist
Just looking at the first page of the piano score.........you need an "Enigma" decoding machine! Brilliant pianist as well as cellist.
They're called arpeggios... not so hard if one has any level of mastery of the instrument. That said, it is well played
Great performance!
Cuello & Piano, una delicia musical..!
Amazing how that pianist makes it look so easy.
A wonderful performance of a work that should be far better known.
Wonderful ( all movements) ! Great!!!
Absolutely beautiful piece! The rapid transitions between calm and slow, and fast and excitement is just wonderful!
Truly beautiful peace. Very emotionally and brilliantly played.
His tone is the quality equivalent of a Rolls Royce. Excellent interpretation!
Wonderful music, and beautiful playing.
Sibelius has also made superb pieces to cello and other soloinstruments. He is not solely a symphony composer
vps358
and some stunning lieder.
very well played! love it
very well played! love it
tremendous good performance! thanks for sharing! :-)
tremendous good performance! thanks for sharing! :-)
Played waaaaaaaay too fast!
dont agree
... no hay prevalencia de uno sobre el otro; cello y piano total conjunción. Preciosa sonata ...
Beautifully played and utterly terrifying!
A certain madness alright!
@@neilwalsh3977 Sibelius had just lost his third daughter Kirsti aged 18 months.
I heard your my little cousin :DD Thats cool dude seriously
this movement,a scherzo, evokes visions of campaign,a race through the vastness of Russia, with visions of riders on windswept steppes,of birch trees swaying,of quaint villages fleeing past...
what a virtuoso~dialog between two instruments! thank you for sharing this wonderful performance :o)
